What this tool does

Answer a handful of questions about what your site actually does — user accounts, user-submitted content, payments, subscriptions — and get a plain-language terms of service built from only the sections that apply. It's a genuine starting draft, assembled entirely in your browser, ready to copy into your site or download as a text file.

How to use it

1. Fill in your site name and a contact email — both are required for the document to actually be usable.
2. Add a website URL and governing-law jurisdiction if you have them; both are optional.
3. Check off what your site actually does. Sections you don't need simply won't appear.
4. Copy the result or download it, then edit it to match your business before publishing.

What terms of service actually cover

At minimum, a reasonable terms of service sets expectations on both sides: what the service is and isn't promising (an "as-is" disclaimer, since almost no small site or app can credibly promise uninterrupted uptime), what counts as acceptable use, who owns what — your site's content and design versus anything a user submits — and what happens if either side wants to walk away. The more your site actually does (accounts, payments, user content), the more those specific sections matter; a static informational site needs much less than a subscription product with user-generated content.

Why this isn't the last step

A generated document is a genuinely useful starting point — it saves you from writing common boilerplate from scratch, and it's honestly scoped to what you actually selected rather than a generic wall of clauses. But it isn't written by a lawyer, and it can't know the specifics of your business or which regulations actually apply to you. Treat the result as a first draft worth a real review, not a finished, compliant document — particularly before you rely on it for a business with real legal exposure.
