What this tool does

This page builds a clean, professional PDF invoice entirely on your device. Fill in your details, add a logo if you have one, list what you are billing for, and the preview on the right updates as you type. When it looks right, download it as a PDF ready to attach to an email.

There is no account to create and nothing is uploaded — the PDF is assembled by your browser and handed straight to you. That matters for an invoice specifically, since it usually contains your address, your client's address, and what you charged them.

How to use it

  1. Add your business name, email and address under From. Upload a logo if you have one.
  2. Fill in your client's details under Bill to.
  3. Set the invoice number and dates. The due date defaults to fourteen days out — change it to match your terms.
  4. Add a line for each item or service, with a quantity and rate. The amount and running total update automatically.
  5. Set a tax rate if one applies, and add any payment notes.
  6. Check the preview, then press Print / Save as PDF and choose "Save as PDF" as the destination.

The button opens your browser's ordinary print dialog rather than downloading a file directly — every modern browser can print straight to a PDF, and this way there is no PDF-writing code weighing the page down for a tool you'll use for thirty seconds.

Everything you enter is saved to this browser automatically, so accidentally closing the tab does not lose your work. Press Start over to clear it and begin a new invoice.

What makes an invoice valid

Requirements vary by country, but most jurisdictions expect the same core information: a unique invoice number, the issue date, both parties' names and addresses, a description of what was provided, the amount charged, and any tax applied shown as a separate line rather than folded into the price. If you are VAT-registered, that typically also means your VAT number appears somewhere in your business details.

This tool gives you the layout; it does not check your local rules for you. If you are unsure what your country or state requires, your tax authority's website is the reliable source — this is meant to save you from formatting a document by hand, not to serve as legal or tax advice.

Invoice numbering that does not cause problems later

A simple sequential scheme is the easiest to defend if a client or an accountant ever asks about a gap: INV-0001, INV-0002, and so on. Some freelancers prefix by year, like 2026-014, which makes it obvious at a glance how many invoices went out in a given year. Whatever scheme you pick, the only real rule is not to reuse a number — most accounting systems, and most tax authorities, expect invoice numbers to be unique and sequential.

Questions

Is this invoice generator free?

Yes, completely, with no account, no watermark and no limit on how many invoices you create. The page is supported by advertising, not by a subscription.

Is my business data safe to enter here?

Yes. The form, the preview and the PDF are all built in your browser. Nothing you type — and nothing in the logo you upload — is sent to a server. You can check this yourself: open your browser devtools, switch to the Network tab, and generate an invoice. No requests will appear.

Can I add my own logo?

Yes. Upload a PNG or JPG and it appears in the top corner of both the preview and the downloaded PDF. It stays only in your browser tab — it is never uploaded anywhere.

Does it come back if I close the tab by accident?

Yes. Your invoice is saved automatically to your browser as you type, so reopening this page brings back where you left off. This uses your browser's local storage, not a server, so it will not follow you to a different browser or device.

Can I use it for VAT invoices?

Yes. Set the tax label to "VAT" and enter your rate — the PDF will show the tax name, rate and amount as a separate line, which is what most VAT rules require. This tool does not check your local invoicing regulations for you, so for a VAT-registered business it is worth confirming your invoice includes everything your tax authority requires, such as your VAT number in the address field.

Will unusual currency symbols show up correctly?

Almost certainly. Because the PDF is produced by your browser's own print engine rather than a separate PDF-writing library, it uses the same font rendering as the page itself — so symbols like ₹, ₽ or ₩ display correctly, not just $, £, € and ¥. If you ever do hit a symbol your system font doesn't have a glyph for, the three-letter code (INR, RUB, KRW) will always work.

Is there a limit on how many line items I can add?

No practical one. The table flows onto additional PDF pages automatically once it runs out of room on the first page, with the totals following on the last page.
